Responsible for the annual awards ceremony to highlight the TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) and BOCA (BOMA Orlando Classic Awards) awards. Duties include securing sponsors, planning the event, and promoting the event to members.
Specific Duties:
The awards chair will submit recommendations and request approval to the Board of Directors to determine a direction fro the awards activities.
With the assistance of staff, a review of recent awards activities shall be undertaken.
The awards chair shall appoint members to serve on the awards committee.
The chair shall determine the schedule for activities of the committee, including the solicitation of entries (for TOBY) and nominees (for BOCA) and shall oversee the judging process.
The awards committee shall solicit nominations for the major awards presented by the association.
The awards committee shall meet to determine one or more winners of each award, taking into consideration the established criteria for each award.
The awards chair shall advise staff of the winners and shall participate in the selection of suitable awards and gifts. Budget restraints shall be considered in this process.
The awards chair and staff plan the presentation ceremony to ensure proper recognition and respect are accorded the recipients.
The awards chair, working with the public relations committee chair, shall ensure that proper publicity is provided for the winners of the various awards.
The awards chair shall provide written recommendations for the next committee concerning potential award recipients, suitable awards and gifts, budget recommendations, and other information which would be beneficial in the operation of the next committee.
Submits committee report each month for inclusion in monthly Board of Directors agenda mailing.
