MAPP Wins GBRIA Safety Excellence Award
BATON ROUGE, La., October 26, 2009—MAPP Construction is the winner of the Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance (GBRIA) Contractor Safety Excellence Award of Recognition in the small Manufacturing and Industrial Building Construction and Maintenance General Contractors category. MAPP was honored with a plaque at GBRIA’s annual Contractor Safety Awards Banquet on October 8, 2009.
MAPP was nominated for the award by Jacobs Engineering. MAPP and Jacobs have collaborated on many projects, including several on Motiva Enterprise’s campus in Convent, La. These include an administration building, laboratory building, auxiliary building and control room.
Larry Douglas, MAPP’s project executive of the Motiva campus projects, said, “It was an honor to be the first subcontractor nominated and selected for an Excellence in Safety Award by a prime contractor, Jacobs Engineering. This is a testament to our teamwork and safety culture.”
According to GBRIA’s Web Site, the winning companies each year have demonstrated a level of safety excellence that includes thousands of hours worked without injury, a commitment by management to educate workers and a culture where accidents do not happen.
