Guest Speaker: Katie Mitzner, Brightline

Katie Mitzner is Director of Public Affairs for Brightline, the first privately funded passenger rail system in America in over a century. Brightline is designed to reinvent travel and take cars off the road by connecting city pairs and congested corridors that are too close to fly and too long to drive.

Mitzner leads Brightline’s public affairs efforts on Brightline’s Orlando extension project, a 2.7B project that spans 168-miles from West Palm Beach to Orlando International Airport. Brightline’s service to Orlando is expected to begin in 2023.

Based out of Orlando International Airport, the future home of the Orlando station, Katie is the point person for Brightline in Orlando and serves as company spokesperson handling media relations, community outreach and government relations for the Orlando extension project as well as other Brightline projects.

Katie has spent more than 25 years in the communications industry beginning her career in the news industry as a television reporter in media markets throughout Michigan and Arkansas. A native Michigander, Katie’s first job was working on a dairy farm, in charge of bottle-feeding calves. Fun fact about Katie – she’s a classically trained pianist and gives piano lessons to kids and adults. Katie and her two kids live in Orlando with a small zoo of cats and dogs.
