If you were awarded a BOMA Orlando scholarship, please let the BOMA office know you will be taking this course so we can invoice you appropriately.

Real Property Administrator (RPA®) Designation

Education for those who manage real estate assets. In this program, you will learn all aspects of operating a commercial building and maximizing a building’s net income while minimizing risk.

Components of this program include design, operation, and maintenance of an office building. You will become fully versed in budgeting and accounting for commercial real estate, risk management, and best practices in bidding. This program also covers reviewing and selecting contract providers, marketing and leasing the building, and the operations of the asset from an owner’s perspective through a comprehensive asset management component.

An RPA brings a full understanding of all aspects of property management to an employer in the commercial real estate industry or to a building owner. The overall goal is to enhance the value of the asset through proper and strategic decision making.

Experience Requirement:  

Before you receive your RPA® Designation, you are required to demonstrate three years of verifiable property management experience. The criteria are outlined in the RPA® Designation Experience Form. This form may be submitted at any time following enrollment.

Facilities Management Administrator (FMA®) Designation

Education for those responsible for making sure a facility runs smoothly by creating a safe and productive workplace for a company and by taking care of tenant issues such as comfort, safety, daily operations, and maintenance.

Learn how to manage facilities in a way that best supports staff and fits into your organization’s overall objectives. From planning and project management to environmental health and worker safety, this program also provides the information needed to minimize maintenance costs and properly manage other timely issues.

Program Requirements:

To earn the FMA® Designation, you must meet all program requirements. 

NOTE: As of July 1, 2013, the FMA® Designation Program requirements have changed and the Technologies for Facilities Management course has been retired; therefore, the FMA® Designation Program requirements depend on when you enroll/enrolled in the program.

Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA®) Designation

Education for those who are in charge of a team of technicians who run the day-to-day operation of a building. In this program, you will learn how to streamline the operations of your building so you can manage energy-efficient, environmentally sound, and cost-effective building systems. 

The properly trained SMA will lead the building team and be responsible for operations of the building, as well as management of the team of technicians assigned to the building. You will have the tools to improve operations, create energy efficiencies, reduce costs, and enhance the value of an asset. 

Experience Requirement:

Before you can be awarded your SMA® Designation, you are required to demonstrate three years of verifiable experience as a stationary engineer or equivalent. This experience must be performed for a minimum property portfolio of 40,000 square feet. Students enrolled in the SMA® Designation Program are required to complete at least 25 of the 35 criteria outlined in the SMA® Designation Experience Form. This form may be submitted at any time following enrollment.

Environmental Health and Safety Issues

Ensuring workplace and employee health and safety are issues at the center stage of today's property industry. As a property professional, this course will help you develop and manage proactive environmental/occupational health and safety programs, comply with regulatory standards and guidelines, and assess when to obtain technical assistance.

local, state, and federal regulations  environmental site assessments  hazard communication  emergency response  asbestos and lead management ergonomics  indoor air quality  hazardous waste  storage tanks  audits, recordkeeping, and other regulatory issues  ADA, EPA, OSHA, CERCLA, and the FULL ALPHABET SOUP of environmental health and safety

All reservations for the class to guarantee a book for the first day of class is June 1st
 
PLEASE READ -Registration/Cancellations must be received 15 business days prior to class start date. No verbal or voicemail requests must be in writing.  No refunds will be issued within 14 business days of class start date.  The textbook must be returned unopened to BOMA Orlando in all cases where a student cancels the registration.  If the textbook is opened, you will be invoiced $250 as we are unable to return opened books.  You will receive an email confirming that we have received your request to cancel.
